Just when you think you can stop making fun of the Chicago Cubs, they provide you with a boatload of ammunition.
Case in point, today, as the team announced they have sent both Kris Bryant and Javier Baez to the minor leagues as they prepare their Opening Day roster.
Baez, who has struggled, recently stated that he was informed by the Chicago Cubs that he had made the 25-man roster while Kris Bryant, who looked like the best offensive baseball player throughout spring training was sent to AAA for contractual reasons.
Oh Cubs. RT @MLBRosterMoves: .@Cubs reassign INF/OF Kris Bryant to @MiLB camp, option INF Javier Baez to Triple-A Iowa.

There’s an argument to be made that Javier Baez, thanks to his prolonged offensive struggles, isn’t completely ready to be on the Major League roster. It’s probably not an accurate argument, but it’s one that can be made – though his defense would have helped the Chicago Cubs up the middle.
As for Kris Bryant, he’s ready and should be on the big league roster. Of course, keeping him in the minor leagues for a few more weeks gives the Cubs an extra year of service time for Bryant which makes sense from a contractual standpoint.
Of course, pissing off the future of your franchise for an extra year of free agency might be a poor decision down the road.
