Boston Red Sox Bench Pablo Sandoval Again

Talent hasn’t ever been much of an issue for Pablo Sandoval, though, harnessing it all has become problematic.

The former San Francisco Giants star and World Series MVP signed with the Boston Red Sox this past offseason, despite being offered more money from the only team he had ever known. He then proceeded to burn all bridges to his former franchise, calling out the Giants and blasting the vast majority of his teammates.

Beloved in the Bay Area and known as ‘Panda’, Sandoval certainly didn’t leave gracefully and many San Francisco fans warned that his slumping ways would eventually turn a more harsh fan base against him.

It appears such is starting to happen as for the second consecutive day and third time in six days, the Boston Red Sox have benched Pablo Sandoval.

For what it’s worth, Red Sox manager John Farrell suggested that its more of a head clearing time for Sandoval, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen such out of Pablo as he routinely had these funks with the Giants which turned many against him.

A rather streaky player, there will be stretches when opposing pitchers can’t get Pablo Sandoval out this season as well. But you don’t really want to pay $100 million dollars to a guy who hasn’t hit over .280 in three years and looks to be regressing despite being just shy of his 29th birthday.
